I attended the Tom Ford presentation during London Collections: Men. He expanded into a luxe collection with the glare on sportswear and jeans. “I realized when I’m in Santa Fe, New Mexico I wear jeans all the time so this season we only have one suit in the collection.” The collection is remindful of the 1960s Western age, with all jeans made in America not Italy, as Mr. Ford says, “America is still the best place for manufacturing denim.”
The jeans, designed by 3 styles by body type: the guy with muscly thighs, the guy with a big bum and the naturally slim guy yet still offering a slim fit. The leather jackets are hand-rubbed to create a soft supple finish. Double denim was showcased broken up with printed cravats. Nubuck jeans were created for the collection, a grey cashmere sweater with a t-shirt lining appeared to create comfort and an effortless layered look. A range of evening blazers, including a blue zebra print silk one.
Favorite pieces from the presentation….everything! Like many, I too have to wait as the collection lands in stores end of January 2015. There are 30 pieces with key colors being tan, blue and black. Thank you to my friend Jas from the Telegraph and MenswearStyle for taking notes as my Iphone died.
